SUMMARY:The sea and the old man
DESCRIPTION:“The Sea and the Old Man” is an adaptation based on Ernest Hemingway’s classic and Pulitzer Prize-winning work “The Old Man and the Sea\,” for which he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature. This work is considered a masterpiece of world literature and is likened to a Homeric epic.\nIt describes the story of a fisherman\, Santiago – played by Tasos Nousias – and his journey to the unexplored and vast sea. His epic encounter with a magnificent blue marlin\, which the hero managed to catch after 84 days without catching fish. The fish is very strong\, Santiago fails to kill it and it\, hooked by his fishing line\, pulls him and his small boat deeper and deeper into the sea for three days and three nights. Santiago finally manages to kill the fish but because it is too big to fit in the boat\, he ties it to its side. On the way back\, sharks attack him and eat all the flesh of the huge fish. Beneath this simple story\, lies a world rich in symbolism and metaphors about the search for purpose\, the resilience of the human spirit\, and man’s conflictual relationship with the natural environment.\nManolino\, played by Vasilis Milionis\, is Santiago’s devoted young apprentice. As his father no longer allows him to go fishing with Santiago\, Manolino can only visit him in his daydreams and nighttime dreams at sea\, thus establishing the connection between memory\, present and future.\nHemingway wrote the story in 1951 and Marlene Kamincksey brings it to our modern times. On the occasion of the title\, the figure of the Sea was added\, which will be interpreted by the dancer Phaedra Soutou and voiced by Evelyn Assouad.  \nCredits: Adaptation – Direction: Marlene Kamincksy\nStarring Tasos Nousias

DESCRIPTION:“Images and words that break the silence” is the title of the event organized on Wednesday\, November 26\, at 20:00 at the Municipal Theater by the Equality Committee of the Municipality of Mytilene\, on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women\, as part of the initiatives undertaken to highlight important social issues. \nThe event includes presentations\, the dramatization of poems by the students of the “paspARTou Youth” Theater Workshop under the general title “Breaking the Silence\,” and songs performed by the Animato Youth & Voices choir. It will also feature the awarding of students from Secondary Education for their participation in the photography and video competition titled “Images and words that break the silence.” \nOne day earlier\, on Tuesday\, November 25\, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.\, the Women’s Shelter of the Municipality of Mytilene is organizing an information and awareness-raising activity in the courtyard of the Municipal Theater of Mytilene. During the activity\, informational material will be distributed\, and at the same time\, through a participatory exercise\, citizens will have the opportunity to record their own awareness messages on specially prepared cards. \nThese messages will be displayed on Wednesday from 18:30 in the foyer of the Municipal Theater of Mytilene\, as part of the Municipality’s main event.

SUMMARY:“CHALLENGE MTB” at the Ancient Theatre of Mytilene
DESCRIPTION:The Lesvos Cycling Club\, in collaboration with the Municipality of Mytilene\, is organizing a Mountain Bike (MTB) Challenge race\, which will take place in the city of Mytilene. \nThe event will take place in the grove of the Ancient Theatre on Sunday\, May 10\, 2026\, at 10:00 a.m.\, inviting both young and adult cycling enthusiasts to take part in a dynamic sporting experience. \nFor younger participants (aged 10–14)\, a special route has been designed\, tailored to their abilities. For those aged 15 and above\, an XCC (Cross Country Short Course) route will be held\, specifically designed to offer strong competitive interest for both participants and spectators.  \nParticular interest is also expected in the e-bike category\, where athletes will demonstrate a high level of technical skill\, speed\, and endurance on the demanding off-road routes along the hillside of the grove. \nThe participation fee is set at €20.
