SUMMARY:“Behind Closed Doors” at the Theatrical Workshop of the Municipality of Mytilene
DESCRIPTION:The Theatrical Workshop of the Municipality of Mytilene presents the play “Behind Closed Doors\,” the iconic work by Jean-Paul Sartre\, on April 25 and 26 at 8:30 p.m.\, at the Theatrical Workshop venue in Chrysomallousa. \nThe performance is staged by amateur actors from Mytilene\, in collaboration with the association “Floga\,” with a deeply social and humanitarian purpose\, as all proceeds will be donated to support the organization. \nThe play “Behind Closed Doors” (Huis Clos)\, first presented in 1944 in Paris\, is considered one of the most important examples of existentialist theatre. Through its intense and gripping atmosphere\, Jean-Paul Sartre explores concepts such as freedom\, responsibility\, and human loneliness\, raising the timeless question of our relationship with others. \nWith respect for the original work and a fresh stage approach\, the performance aspires to move the audience\, combining artistic expression with social contribution. \n  \nCast\nGarcin: Giannis Kakadellis\nEstelle: Eleni Bitzeka\nInès: Marini Lamprinou\nButler: Taxiarchis FanarasDirection: Antouel Nake\nLighting: Kostas Karatzas\nCostumes / Set Design: Lena Triantafyllou\, Rafaela Fakiola\nMusic Composition / Sound: Siameti Chrysa-Eleni\nPoster (Painting): Rafaela Fakiola\nGraphic Design: Martin Likas\nPrompter / Stage Assistant: Taxiarchoula SimitsiReservations Phone: +30 697 231 4642\nBooking Hours: Wednesday – Friday\, 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

SUMMARY:The sea and the old man
DESCRIPTION:“The Sea and the Old Man” is an adaptation based on Ernest Hemingway’s classic and Pulitzer Prize-winning work “The Old Man and the Sea\,” for which he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature. This work is considered a masterpiece of world literature and is likened to a Homeric epic.\nIt describes the story of a fisherman\, Santiago – played by Tasos Nousias – and his journey to the unexplored and vast sea. His epic encounter with a magnificent blue marlin\, which the hero managed to catch after 84 days without catching fish. The fish is very strong\, Santiago fails to kill it and it\, hooked by his fishing line\, pulls him and his small boat deeper and deeper into the sea for three days and three nights. Santiago finally manages to kill the fish but because it is too big to fit in the boat\, he ties it to its side. On the way back\, sharks attack him and eat all the flesh of the huge fish. Beneath this simple story\, lies a world rich in symbolism and metaphors about the search for purpose\, the resilience of the human spirit\, and man’s conflictual relationship with the natural environment.\nManolino\, played by Vasilis Milionis\, is Santiago’s devoted young apprentice. As his father no longer allows him to go fishing with Santiago\, Manolino can only visit him in his daydreams and nighttime dreams at sea\, thus establishing the connection between memory\, present and future.\nHemingway wrote the story in 1951 and Marlene Kamincksey brings it to our modern times. On the occasion of the title\, the figure of the Sea was added\, which will be interpreted by the dancer Phaedra Soutou and voiced by Evelyn Assouad. \nCredits: Adaptation – Direction: Marlene Kamincksy\nStarring Tasos Nousias

SUMMARY:"FRAGMENTS: Euripides"
DESCRIPTION:“FRAGMENTS: Euripides”\, a theatre/archaeology performance directed by Efthimis Theou\, featuring a cast of distinguished Greek theatre artists\, will be presented on Wednesday\, July 30th\, at 7:30 PM at the Ancient Theatre of Mytilene. \nIn 2022\, a papyrus containing fragments of Euripides’ lost plays Polyidos and Ino was discovered in Philadelphia\, Egypt. Inspired by this find\, the performance “FRAGMENTS: Euripides” delves into the partially preserved works of the Athenian tragedian\, presenting a narrative and musical composition that lies at the intersection of theatre and archaeology. \nOn stage\, an unusual\, existential excavation unfolds—not of pottery or architecture this time\, but of theatrical verses\, the words of ancient actors\, shattered into small fragments. Five performers/archaeologists\, equipped for digging\, follow the almost ritualistic process of an archaeological excavation as it progresses over the course of a day. From their trenches emerge glimpses of ancient performances and details of the everyday life of the theatres where these plays were once brought to life. \nThe performance is organized in collaboration with the Municipality of Mytilene\, by the National Theatre of Greece\, as part of the program “Discovering Ancient Theatres of Greece”\, carried out for the second consecutive year with the support of the Ministry of Culture and in collaboration with the DIAZOMA Association. \nAdmission is free\, but seat reservation is required via the following link: \nhttps://www.ticketservices.gr/event/nt-thrausmata/?lang=el \nA limited number of entry tickets will also be available on a first-come\, first-served basis at the entrance of the Ancient Theatre\, 60 minutes before the performance begins. \n* Although the platform mentions that payment for entry to the archaeological site is required\, this will not be necessary for attending the performance.

SUMMARY:A Tale Without a Name
DESCRIPTION:The 3rd Gymnasium of Mytilene presents the theatrical adaptation by Iakovos Kampanellis\, “A Tale Without a Name\,” based on the literary work of the same name by Penelope Delta. According to the author\, the work indirectly addresses the issues of “the decay of power and social crisis\, which lead to succession and renewal with the participation of all. SUMMARY:"The General makes a fuss in the square" by Makis Tsitas
DESCRIPTION:In the context of the celebration of the World Theatre Day\, which has been established every year on March 27th\, the Association of Lesvos Theatrical Cultural Associations “THESIS” presents the play “The General makes a fuss in the square” by Makis Tsitas. These are ten one-act plays\, ten independent stories with a common theme. \nThe general makes a fuss in the square deals with and cautions\, through his heroes and heroines\, issues of everyday life\, presented in a particularly vivid\, vivid\, direct and accessible way. \nPeople of different genders and ages are desperately trying to communicate through their personal moments or daily activities. Sometimes outdoors and sometimes indoors\, they interact with people in their environment or with their neighbours\, but more often than not\, they themselves are the instigators of their effort. The one-act plays in the book raise key issues both for interpersonal relationships and for bridging the gap of human contact. \nContact: 2251037046

SUMMARY:"The Elephant in the Room" with Giorgos Chatzipavlou
DESCRIPTION:For the unique 15 minutes when a man can think clearly. About the best moment in every relationship. Monopoly\, puzzles\, and traditional dances. The things written only in posts because if you say them out loud\, you’ll grow old alone. The universe helping you find your other half just 500 meters from your home. What you learn in the playground about dads. Life coaches and those who write “lover of light” in their profiles. How to discover who you really are and what to do if you find out you’re unlikeable. The right and wrong ways to grow up and everything you’d tell your teenage self. For those who tell you numbers and names after sneezing\, whether you want it or not. The connection between a dick pic and the free market. And all those little or big things we avoid talking about\, even though they’re right in front of us — like the elephant in the room. \nTel. Communication: 2106842252
