Philoktitis

August 13 | 9:00 pm - 11:00 pm

Giorgos Kimoulis, Dimitris Gotsopoulos and Thodoris Katsafados, produced by Christos Tripodis’ Methexis company, present, during the summer season throughout Greece and Cyprus, Sophocles’ tragedy “PHILOCTETIS”
In Philoctetes, Sophocles dramatizes a fraud, which Odysseus organizes and which Neoptolemus, the young son of Achilles, undertakes to execute. The two men arrive at the uninhabited island of Lemnos, at the edge, at the end of the world, where the Achaeans had abandoned Philoctetes for ten years, wounded by an incurable wound. Their mission is to steal the famous bow of Philoctetes, because without it the fall of Troy is impossible.
“I hate the times I live in. Dark years. I don’t want my life like this”
The myth is reflected in the present.
Two representatives of the older generation.
One, excluded from the world, faithful to the concepts of Utopia and the Desirable, and the other, attached to the world, faithful to the concepts of Realism and the Politically Feasible.
Everyone, in their own way, tries to win over a representative of the younger generation.
Who will win?
The one or the other?
Neitherone?
