This concert is inspired by the life and legacy of the composer and musician Tanburi Ali Efendi, who was born, raised, and active in Mytilene during the late nineteenth century.

He was the foremost representative of the old school of tanbur performance and technique, mastering the instrument with exceptional artistry and inspiring generations of distinguished tanbur virtuosos.

On this special occasion, acclaimed Greek and Turkish musicians will come together on stage in Ali Efendi’s hometown to perform a selection of his compositions.
